Nottinghamshire Victoria County History Group will resume meeting fortnightly at Nottinghamshire Archives on Tuesday, 4 October 2011 (10.30am –12.30pm), everyone welcome. ‘ Memories of Raleigh’ is a history project being led by the School of Education at Nottingham University. They want to collect reminiscences, photographs and memorabilia with a view to creating a record of the people who worked at Raleigh. More and more local history societies and individuals are creating their own pages on the Our Nottinghamshire website, which was created at the end of 2010. It is easy to use and links can be made between the website and society websites. Well worth a visit.
The Bingham Heritage Trails Association Newsletter (Sep 2011), on the Association's website, includes news that their latest bid for HLF money includes a proposal to dig 30–50 x one metre archaeological test pits in gardens and public spaces. Not an original idea, but is it a first for Nottinghamshire?
The ‘Out and About’ local history feature in The Historian No.108 (Winter 2010), published by The Historical Association, is a visit to Norwell. The article covers three pages and include eight colour photographs.

Roman Nottinghamshire author, Mark Patterson, has set up a supporting blog, which includes extracts from the book and an online gazetteer (there is a review in the latest issue of The Nottinghamshire Historian).
The Great Central Railway Nottingham (GCRN) would like to link with the Nottingham Tram extension to Clifton (what an imaginative proposal). Trains continue to run most weekends until the end of October 2011, then ‘Santa Specials’ every weekend in December, including Christmas Eve. For more information visit the Railway's website.
